Chapter 2 February

Las Rocas: Garnacha

Rating: 7.3 Value: + Price: $9.99

What can I say, I guess we’re suckers for those Spanish Garnachas. We are actually changing the name of this blog to the Garnacha Boyz and we’re only drinking Garnachas from now on. If we could seize the means of wine production and only produce Garnachas, we would… Okay, so we’re getting a bit carried away, but this is a great value with the perfect finishing bite that keeps you coming back.

  • Not too fruity
  • Good spicy bite
  • Very drinkable (we quickly polished off the bottle)

M100: Red Blend

Rating: 7.0  Value: =  Price: $14.99

Who would have thought the M100 would be less explosive than the M80? Even though it didn’t ‘wow’ us, we enjoyed popping this one off. This vino is smoooooth baby – nice little kick too. Nothing wrong with it, but doesn’t knock our socks off.

  • Easy drinking
  • Nice bite on the back end
  • Could be more complex

Plungerhead: Zinfandel

Rating: 6.4 Value: = Price: $9.99

Wow, this one was a ride. A little too overpowering for our tastes, as it was very fruity and bold. It’s hard to drink multiple glasses by itself, but it might be great to pair with food. Overall, go ahead and buy it because for better or for worse, you’ll get a very flavorful/interesting wine with a good label that your parents will think is funny.

  • Complex
  • Bold/overpowering
  • Unique and untamed

Menage a Trois: Red Blend

Rating: 4.5 Value:  Price: $7.50

Just as I would imagine from a real Menage a Trois, this one left us a bit overwhelmed. Unlike a real Menage a Trois, this one is readily available; it’s in every god damn store. Unfortunately there was just too much flavor for us..but maybe that’s because we’re a couple of prude ass Americans who don’t have the ability to please TWO LOVERS AT THE SAME TI-…you know what, just don’t buy this wine.

  • TOO MUCH
  • Sweet wine fatigue
  • What’s wrong with missionary?

Summary

We’ve only tried two Garnachas, but have really liked them both. We’re also finding that we steer away from the sweeter wines, and gravitate towards wines that are more subtle in flavor and have a nice kick. Thanks for reading our second post as we try to navigate what this site will look like long term.
